My life in ceramics

Peter Ďureje

Peter Ďureje came across ceramics as a child, thanks to his parents, Ľudovít and Zlatica Ďureje. Out of the three siblings, he was the one who followed in his parents’ footsteps. After graduating from the Josef Vydra School of Applied Arts in Bratislava in 2001, nothing seemed to predestine him to giving himself over solely to the craft of ceramics. However, while working in other professions, he always found the time to work with clay. In 2011, he obtained a trade licence, bought a small ceramic kiln and equipped with the glazes and dyes inherited from his father, he began to devote himself fully to ceramics. He tried out various colours and types of glaze and different types of clay, yet he was always attracted by a higher temperature and hardness with the natural colour of pottery. With this vision, he gradually began his approach to his own technology, which he continues to use today. Today, his work focuses on practical applications: stoneware crockery and garden ceramics.
