Chainsaws have a long period of development behind them. At the same time, they are also considered new pieces of equipment. Some people say that using a chainsaw in the creative process is a degradation of proper craft or art. So is it?
A chainsaw consists of two main parts: a cutting part and a driving unit. The cutting part is made of a chain with cutting teeth which moves inside the guide bar. The driving unit is the motor. The driving part has handles, protective elements and control elements. Both parts form a whole unit used to cut and shape wood. First the cutting part was improved, and later the driving part. In order to understand the equipment today, we have to go back to the very beginning.
