Tibor Uhrín – an artist, designer, craftsman, technician, teacher, theoretician, land artist or sensitive lover of wood and its scent, an expert on the opportunities it offers and also part forest magician, who can quickly captivate his spectators through his relationship with wood. His publication “Form sweetens function” is without doubt an opus which the artist deserves after twenty years of active engagement.
The publication comes to us via the small publishing house Dive Buki, based in Košice and focusing on contemporary visual culture and education in the field of art. The nice format of the book with its many photographs is accompanied by studies written by ten authors: design theoreticians, colleagues of students of Tibor Uhrín and graduates from the faculty. It also includes two final reviews of the book by Petra Hanáková and Jan Michl. The book thus brings together academic texts with more personal essays, recollections of the artist’s work, longer and shorter formats and interviews. This concept is complemented by Tibor Uhrín’s own comments on each photographed object, technical descriptions, personal stories and inspirations.
