Is it possible to make a living from woodcarving? The answer is simple. It is possible, and a workshop can even be expanded. The same applies to every craft which is performed as a profession and not as a hobby. However, it must be stressed that it is all about the approach. If a potential woodcarver is put off by their first failures, they cannot create what people are interested in, or cannot adapt to the market’s existing demands, they will not make a living from woodcarving. If a woodcarver convinces themselves and their surroundings that they are doing their work for pleasure and thus underestimating the financial aspect, their craft will become uneconomical. The work can be performed gladly and yet for money. The joy is thus double: in addition to a satisfactory creative feeling, bills can be paid, a family fed and even additional equipment for the workshop.
