In our recollections for the 80th anniversary of ÚĽUV, we must include the charismatic Stano Pekár (1938 Unín, Skalica district – 2014 Bratislava), who worked with this institution from the mid-1960s. As a born Záhorie native, he had a well-developed sense of humour and unusual self-reflection. The public knew him in two basic situations: first as a documentary photographer and artist, and later as an artistic wood-carver and a member of the SPOROFA (Society of Developed Fantasy) club, of which he was a long-serving president. He might have lived in Bratislava, but he worked with work and whittled new objects in Studienka (Malacky district), near a little lake where he had a cottage.
