The exhibition ?GENERÁCIA? (The Generation) in The Medium Gallery (the 18th of June – 15th of July 2013) offered an overview of the current works created in the Ceramics Atelier of the Academy of Visual Arts in Bratislava. It also introduced the work of its lead educator Daniel Piršč who specialises in artistic design of porcelain in his own STUDIO PIRSC PORCELAIN in Mikulov.
The theme of the exhibit was the comprehensive recapitulation of the current activity of the atelier that has been significantly influenced by the arrival of a new pedagogue. The selection of the best student works covered a wide spectrum of different artistic approaches raging from porcelain objects to free style artefacts and installations from various ceramic materials.
The exhibit presented the works of pedagogues and students of all levels of study – from the first year students who are still new to the atelier, to the presentations of parts of diploma works. The main intent of the curator of the exhibit was to find relations, connections or contrasts between and among artefacts, and the whole set-up of the exhibition and placement of individual artefacts so that they would communicate with each other. Question marks in the title were to have the visitors ponder about whether they were encountering a new generation of artists-designers working with this medium.
