Master Palo Gregor discovered straw as a material suitable for hand-made production as a child in Prievidza, where he ended up at the age of nine after moving around many times following his father’s work as a mining technician. With a group of friends, he learnt the basics of spiral weaving in the local crop fields, and occasionally elaborated upon this technique as a self-taught adult. He was given the first opportunity to present his works to the public in 1989 at the Christmas market in Prievidza. Further events came along, demonstrations, first exhibitions, further study and immersion in the subject. In the 1990s, he intensified his production, and is still successful today. This can be seen in the over two hundred and thirty types of decorations (Christmas, Easter, harvest) decorations in his range.
