Many of us have the image of Modra ceramics fixed in our minds as decorative plates and cups, gathering dust on their grandmother’s dresser. Thanks to the young designer Jakub Liška, majolica has got a second wind, with the watchword being not just decorativeness, but also function. From the beginning, his objective has been to make ceramics for daily use, naturally with an aesthetic value which will be timeless, as well as being anchored in tradition. The production technology is completely traditional: that of majolica. The shift has taken place in the design, shapes and above all in the decoration. For this reason, under the modranska brand, we can find plates, cups, mugs and vases decorated not only using the traditional Modra blue and red ornamentation, but also decorated with circles, animals, flowers and the motifs of maps.
