There is no doubt that ÚĽUV’s publishing efforts are of exceptional quality. Tradition today is the most significant series, dealing in depth and in breadth with crafts which have been extensively studied by experienced researchers, and have been properly interpreted and evaluated by experts. They thus become a reliable and valuable source of as yet undiscovered or forgotten information, and thus a valuable inspiration for many contemporary artists. The volumes in this series are usually accompanied by generous illustrations offering the reader a perfect idea of the specific craft production in the past and present. This is also the case in this book by Oľga Danglová: Ornament and Object. The specialist jury of the Literary Fund recently awarded this work a prize for scientific and academic literature for 2019 in the category Social Sciences and Humanities. Alongside this prestigious award, the publication was also nominated for the annual prize of the magazine Monuments and Museums for 2019, in which it was shortlisted for the category of Publication. We also consider this double success by our author, for which we and our readers congratulate her, as an appreciation of ÚĽUV’s publishing activities.
