One of the first means an adult can influence young children’s education are through play and toys. Children played with imitation textile and wooden toys in the traditional environment. Sleighs, carts and scooters are more flexible children’s toys that, in comparison to imitation toys, allowed for physical games. Apart from pleasure, their true mission from the game itself is to help children develop movement, attention and patience. Children’s sleighs and carts represent an interesting collection within the group of traditional children’s toys in the collections of the Slovak National Museum – Ethnographic Museum in Martin.
