Earthenware by Miloslav Orságh
Eva Ševčíková
Although the production of earthenware has been a tradition in Slovakia since the nineteenth century, it is one of the more unique types in current ceramic production. Miloslav Orságh (1961) from Pezinok studied to become a ceramic creator in the period 1976 – 1979. Until 1996 he worked in a ceramic factory in Modra, and in 1997 he became self-employed. In 1998 he learnt the technology of producing earthenware in the Czech Republic, and he has devoted his creations to it ever since. Orságh’s products are characterized by a single-coloured matte glaze with a creamy or green colour. His production includes: teapots, cups, bowls, plates, bottles with glasses, trays, vases, honey cups etc. Many shapes are inspired by traditional products. In the future, he plans to devote his time solely to this type of ceramic.
