Decor embellishes vessels’ surfaces, it is a certain grid, pattern, ornament. It reflects a personal taste of its creator, sometimes it succumbs to period trends and fashions, or it reacts to them. Nonetheless, visual aspects of ceramics’ decor are influenced by technical and technological possibilities of porcelain production. In this article, Markéta Nováková introduces various ways of decorating porcelain, according to stages of technological processes – from a gypsum model, to the form and the work with wet porcelain, the work with dry porcelain wall and, furthermore, she describes what happens during various stages of faring.
