Master Izabela Chylová: „I have been captivated by working at a potter’s wheel.“

Zuzana Strešnáková

Where else to look for Isabela Chylová than at a potter’s wheel? How else could she welcome us if not dressed in a working apron, with her hands covered in clay? „All I know is producing ceramics and cooking,“ the charming ceramics producer jokes. In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious title of Master of Folk Art Production. In her house in Prievidza, she has been successfully producing ceramics mainly for everyday use under the CH trademark, together with her husband Anton and her daughter Simona. Through years of hard work her trademark has become synonymous with quality. Luckily, her products have lately been in demand, not only by her loyal customers, but the general public as well. Despite this she continually changes an assortment of her products, adapting them to current trends. At the same time, however, she maintains that her working approaches follow centuries-long traditions of pottery in the region of Upper Nitra.
