She saw the decoration of Easter eggs already as a little girl with her godmother – she had melted beeswax on the stove and decorated the eggs by waxing them. This moment stuck in her memory, she liked it and eventually started trying to decorate on her own. She has been devoted to production since 1996. She used to buy postcards, Dorka magazine, and based on the patterns she found in them, she started experimenting – dot, line, and gradually it started to work. She also tried batik, cotton wrapping, but waxing was closest to her. Maybe because this decorating technique was typical for the Bardejov region.
At first, she only gave away her decorated eggs, making them in the period before Easter. But later she gained the courage and offered them at an Easter exhibition at the community center in Bardejov. And since then, she has been publicly presenting regularly at events both at home and abroad, especially in Poland.
She constantly strives for new patterns, inventing different ones each year, distinguishing them by colors. She especially likes flower patterns, and she likes to decorate the edges of the eggs with lace patterns. She uses wax from pastels for coloring. What amazes her is the arrangement of ornaments, as if the egg itself asked for their placement. Some are rounder, then she places the pattern more in its center, some are more elongated, then she puts the pattern more to the sides. She uses all types of eggs available on the Slovak market. She likes to paint with a thin pin or needle, and according to her, the pattern is then more beautiful, resembling lace in delicacy.
Decorating Easter eggs is her hobby, she devotes herself to it alongside her work. She starts painting after Christmas and finishes by Easter. As she reveals, the more years she devotes to this hobby of hers, the more joy she gets from it and the more she likes it.
