Already in childhood he learned the basics of woodturning from his father. He started working independently for the ÚĽUV in 1980. He focused on producing traditional assortment from the Stara Tura and Lubina region – salt cellars, pestle holders, grinders, dolls, spice holders, toys, animal figures, and more. In 1988 he obtained a certificate acknowledging his qualification as a folk artisan in the field of wood production, granted by the Commission for the Assessment of Professional Competence of Folk Artisans
