The Gubaňa Civic Association was established in 2018 by three women from the vicinity of Banská Štiavnica. Marcela Nemcová – sheep breeder, Larisa Gombárová – fashion designer, and Šárka Minárik – online writer. They combine the knowledge of our ancestors in wool processing with modern design. They create timeless clothing with the functionality of Slovak wool. They purchase wool directly from the source – from small farmers. The sheep fleece is processed into yarn on machines and the women knit clothing from it. They oversee the production process from the farmer to the knitter. Their mission is to restore the value of wool, strengthen the local economy, help preserve craftsmanship, and maintain cultural values.
