He is a graduate of the Secondary School of Applied Arts – specializing in ceramics. He became active in 1975. His current activities, however, reflect his interest in traditional folk culture and art more broadly. He is interested in folk architecture, collecting traditional clothing and textiles in the Pravnianska Valley. For the sensitive reconstruction of the original dwelling of German farmers, he received the Europa Nostra award in 1993. Today, this object is not only his residence but also a private museum of traditional culture in the Pravnianska Valley. He creates utilitarian and decorative ceramics according to his own ideas and designs, respecting traditional patterns. In decoration, he uses plastic decor – carved, embossed, and modeled, which he discovered in original products in museum collections as well as through his own research throughout Slovakia. He uses transparent glazes, typical for folk pottery. In his free-form work, he prefers relief. He shapes it from clay slabs of thick texture, utilizing its properties as well as fingerprints. In 2001, he obtained a certificate recognizing his qualification as a master of folk artistic production in the ceramics sector, awarded by the Commission for Assessing the Professional Competence of Folk Art Workers.
