The roots of the production cooperative Javorina date back to 1947, when an arts and crafts production cooperative was established in eastern Slovakia, named after a small village in the foothills of the Tatra Mountains. From the very beginning, Javorina focused on the tradition of processing solid wood from local forests, which it subsequently developed into serial production of carpentry products and interior furnishings over the decades. In addition to toys, souvenir items, and household accessories, the assortment also expanded to include repeatedly produced carpentry products, custom furniture, and other products of artistic and craft character. ÚĽUV also played a role in the enhancement activities at Javorina. In 1956, a separate development center was established within the Javorina production cooperative. Products from this traditional production cooperative can also be found in the collection of the Museum of Folk Art Production in Stupava. The production cooperative successfully made it through the transformation of cooperatives at the beginning of the 1990s and began to find its place in the international market. The new chairman, Leo Čellár, gradually and sensitively began shaping the company’s new identity. In 2000, the first custom-made furniture pieces for the Western European market were introduced, followed by the first collection by Lea Čellára.

Today, Javorina is an established brand of European dimensions, based on original design, proprietary technological know-how, and sustainability philosophy. Javorina sources oak wood for production from renewable forests. In line with sustainability, it supports and funds a forestry nursery in eastern Slovakia, which practically means that one new tree is planted for each customer. The company continues to be headquartered in Spišská Belá and regularly showcases its products at design exhibitions in Bratislava, Nitra, and Prague. As a manufacturer of modern furniture from solid oak and walnut wood, it maintains its reputation and quality, evidenced by numerous awards both domestically and internationally
