He was born in Romania, moved to Slovakia at the age of nine. He trained as a mechanical locksmith, later worked at the State Forests enterprise until retirement. He has been fully dedicated to woodcarving since the late 90s, when he had more time for his hobby. He knew wood and its properties because he spent his whole life in the mountains, where he had various professions – from lumberjack to mechanic. His nephew, who works with stone, supported his artwork. The themes of his works stem from memories of childhood, people, and events connected to that period. He depicts domestic tasks related to flax and spinning. He also engages in sacred themes. In his nativity scenes, he expresses the main idea of the birth of Christ, featuring the Holy Family, the three kings, and the cow with the donkey. His work is characterized by rougher processing, not focusing on details, and the proportions of the depicted figures are stylized.
