Margita Jurčovičová lives and creates in Pezinok, she has been active since 1988. She grew up in an environment where threads were constantly being created – her mother embroidered for Živena and her sister also embroidered, so she learned to embroider and weave at a young age. She utilized her knowledge in adulthood to make postcards and sweaters. She supplied them to the Dorka magazine, all of which had to be originals. She has been employed as a special education teacher in a special primary school for a long time and can try out various textile techniques in vocational education and art classes with students. She enjoys experimenting with new things, which also helps her in her own creations. Her colleagues convinced her to sell her products. And since people were interested, she has continued to create for the market, even though her work still remains a hobby. She was guided towards stylistic purity in her work by the advice of the Dorka magazine editors, later by the guidelines of the ÚĽUV textile artists Janka Menkynová and Eva Bachratá when she started making textile dolls and animals for the ÚĽUV. She still considers her best products to be those that have passed the ÚĽUV’s artistic commission. She prefers using cotton the most, especially traditional Czech canvas for its colorfastness and strength, allowing the dolls and animals made from it to maintain their shape. If she were to create only for herself, she would use exclusively block printing and linen canvas. However, the main recipients are children, which is why she also reaches for more colorful fabrics. She sews her products simply, with minimal decorations, as simplicity is a benchmark for her. They must be washable, easy to hold, and not pose a danger to children. She mainly makes horses, cats, dachshunds, geese, and dolls. As she says, she would not be able to do anything without her husband’s understanding. Currently, he alone cuts out all the pieces for future products. She has even introduced her children to the craft – one daughter does embroidery, silk painting, and makes leather earrings, while she created a protected workspace for the other daughter, and her son also participates in the work process
