She started dedicating herself to lace-making after completing a course at the School of Arts in Brezová pod Bradlom. It was then she realized that lace-making in the Myjava region had few successors. She searched for living local lacemakers willing to initiate her into the secrets of Myjava thread lace and found master lacemaker Anna Potúčková, who became her first teacher. She was captivated by the lace’s delicacy and airiness, as well as its variety and pattern combinations. That’s why she still actively pursues it. In November 1997, she founded the Lace Club in Brezová pod Bradlom with Viera Mikulčíková.

Soon, in her initial enthusiasm, she also focused on documenting the technological processes of Myjava lace production. Until then, knowledge among lacemakers was passed on solely through observation and oral tradition, lacking a written record. Wanting to preserve the patterns for future generations, she began collecting, studying, and documenting them. In 2009, she published the results of her efforts in the field in the book “Thread Laces from the Brezová pod Bradlom Region,” released by the Folk Art Production Center in the series “School of Traditional Crafts and Arts.”

Regarding her product range, she was immediately drawn to yard goods. She gained her first experiences with yard goods through Spanish lace, quickly understanding the production process of thread lace. She started with narrow lace patterns due to the time-consuming nature of thread lace production with very fine threads, but gradually moved on to wider patterns, adapting them to her needs or the requirements of future owners over time.

She also adapts her product range to current demand and public interest. Popular items include lace jewelry, lace pictures in frames, Christmas decorations, or lace accessories for contemporary clothing (belts for women’s dresses, ties, bow ties for men, ribbons for wedding attire, etc.).

For her, lace-making represents joy and also acts as a form of mental hygiene. She continues to oversee the operation of the Brezová club and organizes thematic exhibitions.
