He had a natural talent for manual work from an early age. As his wife recalls, he always willingly and skillfully did everything that was needed – whether at home, at work, or on the farm. Skillfulness was simply his strong suit. And although he only got into traditional craftsmanship in the last ten years of his life – since 2003, in the field of weaving useful objects from straw, he left a significant mark behind him, recognized in 2012 with the title of master of folk art production.

He worked at the Regional Cultural Center in Prievidza. Former cultural centers and still have in their activities the support of non-professional arts, which also include traditional crafts and homemade products. From his position as a driver, he regularly had the opportunity to come into contact with many craftsmen alongside the professional staff of the cultural center, and he befriended several of them.

By nature and especially by the character of his work, Viliam Mikláš from Nitrianske Sučany and Rudolf Bartoš from Prievidza captivated him the most. Both specialized in the production of straw plaits, using a material that was commonly used in the past for this purpose in the Upper Nitra region.
