Mária Sartorisová was the daughter of A. Tučnáková, a prominent lace maker from Špania Dolina, who had already won the title of master of folk art production in lace making in 1963. Sartorisová started bobbin lace making for her own use as a child. She began working at ÚĽUV (Centre for Folk Art Production) only in retirement, in 1984. For ÚĽUV, she made intricate patterns using fine cotton and linen yarns on dense square-shaped forms. She made all kinds of edgings for blankets, coverlets, and tablecloths. In 1988, she was granted a certificate as a master of folk art production in the field of lace making, awarded by the Commission for Assessing the Professional Competence of Folk Art Production Workers.
