ŠUP Ružomberok offers a stimulating environment for studying creative and productive branches of art and design. A characteristic feature of the school’s work is the connection between art and craftsmanship following the example of the famous Bauhaus school – the first to come up with the idea of applying theoretical knowledge into practice. The school has established contacts with many institutions in the city and throughout Slovakia, with which it collaborates. Students and teachers participate in exhibitions and workshops both domestically and abroad. The school responds to the demands of the modern era with a combination of disciplines and technical equipment in workshops. It is a workplace that adequately prepares students for their future careers. The work system is based on project-based teaching, with students working on specific assignments within their field of study during semester-long cycles. In addition to their work, they acquire a wealth of theoretical knowledge.

Successful graduates of the school include, for example, Lenka Sršňová, Martin Hrča, Matej Rabada, Matúš Opálka, and many others.

In 2012, a successful collaboration took place between former students of the school and the Centre for Folk Art Production. Under the guidance of teachers Michal Hanula and Ľubomír Žilu, a collection of wooden toys was created, some of which even made it into the assortment of ÚĽUV shops.
