The most famous and significant woodcarver of Liptov at the time was born into an old shepherd’s family in Liptovská Porúbka, where this traditional craft was passed down from father to son. As a child, he was fascinated by carved objects of daily use that he encountered at the shepherd’s hut, and very soon he himself also began to experiment with carving. His early works already attracted the attention of the local community
