When he was fourteen, his parents bought him his first dulcimer. Ten years later, he added not only playing this instrument but also its production. As he himself says, he plucks the dulcimer, he is not a musician, and even in production, he only strives to approach the best world manufacturers. Nevertheless, there is interest in his instruments abroad (Germany, France, England), where they are sold in brick-and-mortar stores and online. He is pleased to be able to present his dulcimer as Slovak.
He mostly produces dulcimers tuned from C to G. He artistically treats them as a peg in the base, which he varies, and offers up to forty-four different types. Some even in a wooden frame with a stylized zoomorphic motif, he was inspired by Ladislav Leng’s publications during their production. For the body of metal dulcimers, he uses a four-millimeter square, the body of wooden dulcimers he initially made from walnut, a few he made from ebony, but today he finds beech to be the most sonorous wood. He uses a flexible steel strip for the lamella in both types of dulcimers. In addition to playing and making dulcimers, he also collects them, finding dulcimers of Asian nations the most sonically interesting.
Besides metal, he was also initially attracted to wood at the beginnings of his creation. He made whistles, carved spoons, children’s violins, trough violins, bass, for ÚĽUV, with whom he started to cooperate in 1996, also nativity scenes and crucified bodies, children’s rocking horses, hussars, salt shakers, upon Janka Menkynová’s suggestion. But, as he himself says, he no longer wants to clear bushes and find suitable wood; therefore, he remains faithful to only the dulcimer. But he does so honestly, which we can attest to.
