The manufacturer came from a basket-making family and was active in production since 1934. His parents had a basket-making workshop with a shop in Hlohovec. He began weaving baskets at a young age, following in the footsteps of his grandfather. He later worked in a private workshop at Zapletal in Nové Mesto nad Váhom (at that time the only basket-making cooperative in Slovakia) and then with basket-makers Holuba and Šustek. His range of products is diverse. He could shape any basket without using a mold. He mastered various weaving techniques and collaborated long-term with artist Janka Menkynová from ÚĽUV, contributing to the creation of many utility basket collections. His wife Katarína also worked for ÚĽUV.

In 1981, he obtained certification as a master of folk art production in the field of natural fibers, awarded by the Commission for Assessing the Professional Competence of Folk Art Workers. The collaboration with Mr. Jozef Spáčil and ÚĽUV ended in November 2013 due to his passing.
