He began to focus on woodcarving in his later years. Around 1977, he became acquainted with the work of the woodcarver from Strážnice, František Gajda, and from that moment on, he started creating woodcarvings. He started with folk motifs, later continuing with figurative relief work. He often portrayed portraits of well-known personalities. After retiring, he not only continued his own work but also began mentoring young aspiring woodcarvers. In 1988, he opened a Woodcarving Circle at the School of Applied Arts in Myjava. His first student was A. Irša, followed by P. Marek, O. Bučenec, and others.
