Wood carving is his greatest passion alongside painting, carpentry, and performing in the folk group Lubená. He draws inspiration for his sculptures and reliefs mainly from village life, capturing interesting human types such as old women, witches, shepherds, and beggars… However, he also works on religious themes, depicting the Madonna, the Crucified Christ, and others. His innate sculptural sensitivity for working with wood is reflected in his ability to give the sculpture expression, work with detail even in almost miniature sculptures, or bring out an expressive form from a found tree root. He is a folk artist and craftsman who can skillfully work with wood in both artistic and utilitarian forms (ornamental decoration on furniture, furniture components). He utilizes his versatile skills in his role as a vocational training master at the Furniture Vocational School in Pravenec.
