The painting in a wooden frame is made using the technique of underpainting on glass. The motif of the Holíč Pieta is a loose replica of a historical glass underpainting (around 1830 – 1840) found in the vicinity of Prievidza (Source: Pišútová, I .: Glass Paintings, Center for Folk Art Production, 2010).
