Jug – a container for liquid, handcrafted on a potter’s wheel, made from red clay. The rounded shape of the vessel body is complemented by a narrow neck that protects the liquid by preventing warm air from entering, keeping it cool for longer. The jug is decorated with a sculptural “chain decoration”, also known colloquially as “finger laces”. The name of the decoration is derived from the production process, where a clay lace is pressed with fingertip at regular intervals. These finger laces, made in this way, serve not only for decoration but also to strengthen the circumference of the vessel. Both in design and shape, this jug is inspired by pottery products from Gemer. It is glazed on the inside with a transparent glaze, and on the outside with a glossy green glaze.
