Women’s folk costume
The bonnet is made of homemade linen, with a lace headband. The two parts of the bonnet are connected by red and white factory ribbon. It is embroidered according to thread count. Stitches used: backstitch, cross-stitch, cutwork, tailor’s chain stitch. The narrow ribbon is gathered and reinforced with embroidery at the top.
The skirt is made of wool. Besides the front part, it is entirely pleated. Two narrow ribbons are sewn at the bottom. The apron is made of homemade cotton canvas. It has an embroidered pattern at the bottom. A serrated madeira lace is sewn all around, pleated.
The sleeves are made of homemade cotton canvas. The sleeves and collar are embroidered according to thread count. Stitches used: shaping, smoothing, cross-stitch, seed stitch, open chain stitch, curve stitch. Crocheted lace made of thicker cotton yarn is sewn at the sleeve ends.
The bodice is made of homemade linen. A floral ribbon adorns the lower edge. The appliqué consists of a black textile decorative border. The embroidery is done according to thread count. Hooks and eyes for fastening are sewn on the front panels.
The monogram apron is made of homemade cotton canvas. It is edged with pleated madeira and a black glot strip. The apron area is embroidered with a pre-drawn design. The botanical ornament is embroidered with satin stitch, chain stitch, and loop stitch. The monogram “J A” is embroidered at the top of the apron.
