What a wire has bound together, time cannot tear apart…
Show on map
Wire is the central material theme of ÚĽUV in 2026. The exhibition at the ÚĽUV Gallery in Košice, located at Mäsiarska 52, is dedicated to wirework in its original itinerant form, when wireworkers traveled the countryside and focused primarily on repairing everyday items used by the rural population. The exhibition was curated by ethnologist Katarína Kendrová and historian Katarína Hallonová from the Považské Múzeum in Žilina, who have long specialized in researching and documenting this craft, which has been inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2019. Join us on a journey into the past and discover the beauty of wirework at the Regional Crafts Center in Košice from June 5 to October 30, 2026.
