The Western Slovakia Museum in the town of Trnava opened a new exhibition of the work of Trnava-native collector Štefan Cyril Parrák on January 24, 2008. Compiled from his items, the collection forms one of pillars of the museum (established in 1954). Between 1954 and 1963, the museum received around 7700 items from Š. C. Parrák. The museum opened part of the collection, around 300 pieces, to public on the occasion of 120 years from the birth of this special and undervalued personality as Š. C. Parrák certainly was. After a period of no presentations of similar type, the museum organised this exhibition and named it the Tribute to the king of collectors. Faience production from the jar workshops of Western Slovakia (Stupava, Sobotište, Košolná, Boleráz, Smolenice, Dechtice and Modra) prevails. A collection of Haban ceramic products and faience and stoneware items from a manufacture in Holíč dated back to the second half of the 18th and 19th century are also exhibited. Visitors may see items from wood, pictures painted on glass, old objects in Biedermeier-style showcases the collector Parrák used in his museum and further exhibits from the collection of Š. C. Parrák.
