The land of crafts opened its gates to all creative and craft-skilled children and young people for the eighth time. It gave teachers and artists the opportunity to bring together pupils, craft and art into one unit. The aim of the competition is to stimulate children’s and young people’s interest in traditional folk crafts, to strengthen their awareness of cultural identity and to support them in their artistic creativity and manual skill. Last year’s competition was different in that at this time of compulsory isolation it gave us the opportunity to escape into a land of fantasy, peace and joy, into a world dominated by colour, where the shape defines the space, where natural materials spread their aroma and where we don’t know the word “prohibition” or “limitation”. The only things that mark out a boundary “In the land of crafts” are the competition topics and age categories. Otherwise, it’s a space which accepts everyone and gives the opportunity to express one’s creativity.
