New presentation concepts and visions of the Centre for Folk Art and Production (ÚĽUV)

Mária Hriešik Nepšinská, Tomáš Mikolaj

The contemporary trend in exhibitions, not only those involving art and crafts, is to present works from the perspective of the contextual understanding of the topic, for example by finding connections between history and the present. One of the methods used in this approach is the equivalent presentation of museum collection artefacts with works of modern and contemporary design based on the knowledge of traditional materials or technologies, or using innovative solutions. The ambition behind this new exhibition concept is to focus the viewer’s attention on the specific material and to showcase it comprehensively in its whole range of expressions.
