In order to spark off the work of young clothing designers inspired by traditional craft, which is part of our European culture, in 2021 ÚĽUV carried out the first stage of the project “Tradition in Design”. ÚĽUV contacted five young yet already established clothing designers who enjoy basing their work on local traditions. The output of the first stage of this project is a compact collection of artist’s models by five designers inspired by traditional craft. Each artist has their own clear, original signature defining their work, but the exhibited clothing and accessories are linked by their innovative connection to traditional craft, traditional technologies and motifs. The designers brought back to life traditional crafts such as pleating, weaving, knitting, macramé, embroidery and indigo print. Marcel Holubec W., Martin Hrča, Mišena Juhász, Ľubica Poncik and Henrieta Tholt worked on this project.
