Jozef Hrmo’s dream comes true

Jozef Hrmo’s dream comes true

Zora Valentová

When meeting a person devoted to craft, it is always interesting to find the stimuli that brought them to such a creative activity. Jozef Hrmo’s father was a shepherd from Kremnica, and he therefore spent much time in the shepherding environment as a child. The production of wooden utensils was also part of this lifestyle. Jozef Hrmo was educated as a metal craftsman. Only as an adult did he again start to remember what he had seen during his childhood. His desire was to change his original occupation to a different one – to be able to exist by his own production from wood. This dream came true in 1991. He now works at home; he is independent and sells his products in a variety of shops selling folk art products throughout several Slovak towns.
