A need for an up-to-date research emerged as wire craft was, this year, nominated for inclusion into the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Slovakia by ÚĽUV’s staff. The investigation is mainly concerned with mapping and evaluating still existing forms of wire craft, traditional and applied wire craft in particular. Divided into several periods, this research has been carried out throughout the whole of Slovakia since 2017. Aimed predominantly at traditional techniques, decoration and mapping the situation across various institutions and associations concerned with wire craft, it will also feature mapping wire techniques used by respective producers. Fieldwork is going to take place in the summer of 2017.
