The mission of the Museum of Folk Art Production in Stupava is, alongside its documentary and research activities, to provide professional protection for the collection items, prevent their natural ageing and subsequent destruction. The collection items in the museum are stored in a special room, the depository, which is separated from others parts of the building and has optimal climatic conditions: a stable temperature, suitable relatively atmospheric humidity, minimal sunlight… Such conditions ensure that the natural ageing of items is slowed down and their lifespan prolonged, but this method of protection is not always sufficient, and some items require professional care carried out by a professional restorer.
