The fundamental changes in society which took place in Slovakia after 1989 affected individuals as well as institutions. The Centre for Folk Art Production also had a difficult path to tread, one that would lead above all towards a greater opening up to the public. The institution continued to support the maintenance of folk art production, and tried to advance the work of producers through experienced artists. After 1989, however, ÚĽUV’s activity also began to concentrate on spreading the knowledge which it had succeeded in acquiring thanks to its specialist staff over its many years of experience by providing wide-ranging information, educational, exhibition, publication and promotional activities aimed at the wider public. We will attempt to take a look at the current face of ÚĽUV through the important events, dates and milestones of the last thirty years.
