Experts on Stračina’s work are well aware of his collection activities in the field of folk music. When listening to his compositions, film or theatrical music, it is clear that the composer’s work reflected not only the use of the musical motif of a folk song melody, but also delved deeper into the processes and ideas, in particular into the musical feeling and behaviour, the particularities of the performance of simple, but musically talented, village musicians and the sound of folk music. Stračina did not work only with melody, but in his work, he tried to reflect the uniqueness and particularities of the range of instruments, the tuning of instruments for different types of music, the specific features of the sound of the music of various regions. He founded his collection of folk sculptures and reliefs in the same spirit.
