Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, producers and craftspeople have been going through hard times. From the beginning of 2020, the situation has prevented fairs and other events from being held, which is where producers in normal circumstances make a large part of their income and new trade contacts. During this period, the Centre for Folk Art Production tried to support producers and the sale of their products. We were able to take a deeper breath at the end of the summer; thanks to the easing in anti-pandemic measures, ÚĽUV continued its tradition and brought folk culture and crafts into the capital from all regions of Slovakia. During the first weekend in September, over eighty producers presented themselves at the ÚĽUV Days of Craft Masters event.
Less than a week later, on Friday September 10th 2021, a ceremony was held in the Courtyard of Crafts on Obchodná ulica in Bratislava to award the titles of Master of Folk Art Production for 2021. An expert committee composed of artists, ethnologists, designers and other specialised staff decides on awarding these titles. This year, five producers received the award in the presence of the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic, Natália Milanová.
