The 8th symposium of craftsmen took place in June 2005 in ÚĽUV in Bratislava where representatives of traditional weaving techniques met up together. Four skilled weavers demonstrated the weaving of open-work decorated table sets on a weaving loom, demonstrations of woven patterns from the Horehronie region, rug carpets and table settings made from textile leftovers. Loom weaving was supplemented with demonstrations of the production of Gipsy laces with which women used to tie up their skirts and aprons, and weaving with cards. Part of the symposium was a specialist conference with the name New Paths for Old Techniques – folk culture weaving in the past and now.
