Vít Pieš – Universal master

Jana Rajniaková

Vít Pieš (1931) was born in a typical Slovak village of Čičmany. That he was raised in the rural environment is clear from what he does – from his products from wood, leather and metal. The range of his works comprises mugs, gutters, ladles, spoons, salt shakers, cheese forms, musical instruments closely related to the life in a shepherd´s hut such as whistles and fujara flutes. He started to cooperate with the ÚĽUV in the 1980s. He was awarded the master of folk art production title for products from wood, metal and leather in 2009.
