Lecturers and lecturing

Zuzana Mitošinková

In order to be maintained, implemented and developed further any craft needs its tutors/lecturers who would be spreading it in the public. One of the places where crafts are passed on to children, youth or even older people is the ÚĽUV School of Crafts. It has its branches in all three regions – Bratislava, Banská Bystrica and Košice. To popularise a craft with the public, that would otherwise have no experience of it, find more promoters of various craft techniques – these are also the motivations of many tutors. To be a good tutor of a craft, however, is very demanding. Years of experience, the know how and the skills he or she is passing on to his or her pupils are a well of wealth. In the current issue of the survey there are several interviews with the lecturers of the ÚĽUV School of Crafts. We asked them where and in what circumstances they had come to the resolution to become a tutor, which moments of a tutor’s work are the most powerful and precious, what are the most demanding parts of this job and what are the obstacles they have to overcome.
