From the series ÚĽUV for children

Diana Némethová

With the ÚĽUV for children series, the publishing house of the Centre for Folk Art Production follows up its series of brochures How people used to… (Ako sa kedysi…) on the topic of the way of life of people from a rural environment and small towns by the author Rastislava Stoličná. The publications are richly illustrated with drawings by Ivica Augustínová. In the How people used to live (Ako sa kedysi bývalo) part, young readers can discover the differences in living in rural mountain areas dominated by wooden cottages, in the plains in houses built from unburnt bricks and in towns in masonry houses. In the publication How people used to make a living (Ako sa kedysi ľudia živili), the child reader discovers that not everyone had land, and so could not make their living by growing crops and breeding farm animals. Many made a living from much harder work, for example mining or various crafts, selling their products to buyers for money.
