Silvia Seneši Lutherová
The ceramic artist and designer Simona Janišová moves freely in her work without being restricted by the limits of the ceramics craft, whether philosophical or physical. She develops her programme as an artist in several directions: from applied ceramics to free art, from design to solitary objects, from drawing to ceramic relief. She finds inspiration in the history of ceramic art, but imposes her autonomy, plays with the functions and meanings of objects, paraphrases cultural and artistic archetypes and searches for new forms. Her works have won several awards and are present at every important show of Slovak design or craft. A key aspect of her ceramic art is the process, a kind of driving element which the artist herself marks as “something between exact planning and a game”.
