Ľuba Paučulová
The Faculty of Architecture of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava prepares specialists for the field of historical building care under the framework of specialized engineering studies. As an experiment, for the second year the school has taught the subject of historical building restoration directly on the ground. Students are taught at a separate workplace in Banská Štiavnica. During the week-long course, students become acquainted with the traditional crafts of historical architecture. In addition to excursions, they can individually try out carpentry, plastering and stucco techniques, and the smith’s trade. Provided there is good feedback after completing the experiment in spring 2003, the course will be regularly taught to as many students as possible.
