In October 2008, Bratislava was the organiser of the 6th year of the International Symposium Travelling. Established in 2002, the symposium was founded as a platform for cultural exchange and meeting of jewellery designers at new inspiring places which are rich in cultural background, history and nature. Before Bratislava, the travelling symposiums project was hosted by Vitoria/Gasteiz, Lisbon, Travassos, Menorce and Vilafranca del Penedés. The Turnov Symposium in Idar-Oberstein participated in the project, too. In October 2008, the jewellery made at this year´s symposium and works made at other travelling symposiums were presented under the title The Modern jewellery from international travelling symposiums in Bratislava. The 3rd Šperk Stret International Conference (10/10 – 11/10/2008) was opened together with the exhibition. The S+M+L_XL Metal and jewellery studio at the AFAD in Bratislava was the organiser of both the conference and the Travelling. Unlike previous years, funds from the Culture Ministry of SR helped to extend the project to a two-day event with many additional exhibitions.
